Pain/Stiffness in Back Side of Neck

Good Day Sir,

I am facing stiffness and pain exactly in the back side of my neck since one or two months. I am applying some ointment like Iodex, moov etc. But these are not helping me. I am 50 years old, male and my job is in a bank. I request you to help me in getting rid of this pain completely Sir. Please reply. Thank you in anticipation.

Matthew's reply: Hi, usually this kind of problem is in the muscles and soft tissues of the neck due to strain, overwork, sports, etc. However, as you are 50 years old the pain may also indicate a problem with your neck vertebra.

I suggest you get an x-ray to see if there is actually some vertebral problem. If there isn't, then it indicates the problem is most likely muscular. In this case I recommend you try neck exercises and techniques such as the Back Arch and the Neck Twist. There are other neck and upper back exercises on this site that may help too. Take a look and choose those that seem most suitable.

Any questions or comments you may post below.

All the best,

Matthew
