How Can I Lose Belly Fat?

by Teresa
(Amigo)

How can i lose belly fat and that's not hard on my back?

Matthew's reply: Hi Teresa, it would help firstly to know more about you such as your age, height, weight, diet and the types of exercise you have already tried for getting rid of excess belly fat.

Without that info I can only offer general advice.

1. Avoid stodgy foods such as bread, pasta and pizza, and junk foods in general. These foods are big contributors to excess belly fat, especially as you get older. See my Diet Report (Articles section for what/when/how to eat).

2. Do some heart-pumping exercise several times a week. This will burn off excess fat overall. Bike riding, skipping, soft sand running, stair climbing are some good examples. Choose ones that you ENJOY doing. If you're very unfit or have chronic back pain start by walking somewhere every day.

3. Do some specific abs and belly exercises.

4. Visualize yourself not as the person you are now (with excess belly fat) but as the person you want to be (with a firm, toned midsection).

As mentioned, this is general advice. We're all different. What works for one person may not work for another.

Any questions or comments about my advice for losing belly fat just post below.

All the best,

Matthew

P.S. If your back trouble stops you from exercising you obviously need to fix this first. See the Back section of the site for exercises and techniques to stop back pain.
