Relief From Constipation!
by: Redpanda

After years of trying everything you can think of to relieve my constipation...I found the simplest solution.

Vitamin C and Magnesium Citrate, naturally send moisture to the colon.

I take 2 chewable, 100 mg. vitamin C wafers from GNC, 2 times a day AM & PM(3 times if your really constipated). They taste good too. Cost is $9.

Along with the vitamin C, I take 1 ounce of Magnesuim Citrate (bottle of liquid magnesium citrate). You can find it at Walgreens, CVS or even Walmart. It is in the laxative section even though it is a mineral nutrient. I prefer the grape flavor and if I can't find it, I get the lemon and add 1 Tablespoon of Black Cherry Concentrate to flavor it. It tastes like grape or cherry soda. Cost is around $1.00.

I take this combo, like I mentioned twice a day. No more constipation! NORMAL!!!!

Let me know if you get relief, like me. Redpanda

Herbal Medicine for Constipation
by: Matthew Scott

Hi Michelle, it's difficult for me to say here how long you should wait to see results from the Chinese herbal medicine you are taking. If a herbal medicine is properly prescribed you should, generally speaking, see some positive results within days - even sooner for problems like coughs and colds.

In Chinese medicine there are a number of causes of constipation and acne. Xiao yao wan does seem to be one suitable formula for you but other formulas may be too. Sometimes you may experience an initial worsening of certain problems or symptoms, however they should then settle down.

Chinese medicine is all about re-balancing you. When taking a medicine - any medicine - if you experience a worsening in any of the below areas then the medicine may not be the best one for you at that particular time: Mood, energy, sleep, appetite, digestion, elimination.

I would discuss your concerns with the herbalist.
