Neck Pain, Arm Pain - Help

by Lynette
(Trinidad)

Hi, I fell 11 years ago and damaged my C3,4 and 5 neck vertebra. The pain is a daily situation and the severeness varies. My right arm is becoming increasingly sore, my palm especially. Also I have been having intense pain in three areas - the inside top corner of my right eye, my right temple and my inner right ear (there is no ear infection). I do not take pain killers unless I have no choice. The discomfort from it all is very debilitating. Help

Matthew's reply: Hi Lynette, are there acupuncturists in Trinidad? If you are not sure I strongly suggest you try and find out. Ask a doctor, a physiotherapist or chiropractor or other type of health professional. Acupuncture very often is outstanding for the type of pain that you are experiencing. However, I cannot say for sure via the Internet how much it will help you.

I do know from my experience (I was an acupuncturist in Australia for 10 years) that it is absolutely worth trying in all cases of pain, such as neck pain, arm pain, head pain, etc. I have also had many acupuncture treatments myself over the years for back pain (I have a lower spine problem) and have gotten tremendous pain relief.

So, once again, I urge you to seek out an acupuncturist for treatment of your problems. If you have any questions about having acupuncture treatment let me know.

All the best,

Matthew

Pain in Back of Neck

by David Charles

How do you help to relieve pain in the back of your neck? I feel as if I'm having a hard time tipping my head down towards my chest. What exercise can I use for my neck in an up and down head rotation?

Matthew's reply: Hi David, twice I've had a stiff neck so painful I couldn't turn my head or look up or down. Both times were from surfing. Both times I stopped the pain and stiffness with the exercises in the Stiff Neck Program. My personal success with these particular exercises is a major reason why I created the program.

Any questions feel free to post them below.

Regards,

Matt

Exercises For Neck Pain?

by fernando
(paris france)

Please write me or send some exercises for neck pain.

Matthew's reply: Hi Fernando, there are many exercises for neck pain. It depends on exactly what your problem is. There are many causes of neck pain. Most people get neck pain from sports and exercise, or sleeping in the wrong position, or from bad posture, e.g. hunched over a desk while working. Neck pain can also be a result of emotional stress.

In most cases the problem just involves the neck muscles and soft tissues but it can also involve the neck vertebra. An x-ray will tell you if the vertebra are involved.

As for neck exercises, take a look in the Back section of this site. A few to try are the Neck Twist, Back Arch and Back Twist. You will need to look at these and judge for yourself if you think they might help. Then, do them as instructed. Never force an exercise, especially if you have pain.

I also have on video a neck program which is more comprehensive and effective than doing one or two individual exercises.

Let me know if you questions about any of the exercises for neck pain or the video program.

All the best,

Matthew
