With these easy meditation techniques you will get the benefits of meditation today. Included are tips on where to meditate, how to sit, how to breathe and what I believe is the quickest, easiest way to meditate - without the years of practice. Easy Meditation Techniques Where to meditate Any place quiet where you will not be disturbed by people, phones, etc. It could be a bedroom, hotel room, office, park, garden, etc. If meditating inside make sure the room is well ventilated. Where ever you meditate make sure it is not too windy. How to sit
Traditional meditation positions are fine for those who can manage them. However, this article is about easy meditation techniques, so sitting on a chair or stool is also fine. Use a firm chair or stool. Put a thin cushion or folded towel under you if you wish. Sit with your back straight and drop your chin a little to lengthen the back of your neck. Rest your hands on your knees or cup one in the other and rest them on your lap. Close your eyes during meditation. How to breathe During meditation you should breathe slowly and smoothly through your nose. To ensure deep breathing your abdomen should expand a little as you inhale and contract as you exhale. (To practice abdominal breathing put your hands on your abdomen so you can feel it expanding and contracting as you inhale and exhale. You can also practice this in bed, lying on your back.) The more you breathe like this the more natural it will become until you no longer need to think about it. Anytime during meditation you notice your mind wandering, don't worry, simply refocus on your breathing, i.e. breathe slowly and smoothly in through your nose while gently expanding your abdomen a little, then slowly and smoothly breathe out (nose) as your abdomen gently drops back into place. When to meditate Daily is best, for at least 30 minutes. First thing in the morning is ideal as it sets you up for the rest of the day. In the evening before bed is also good as it ensures a sound sleep. Try to meditate at the same time and place each day. This helps you form good meditation habits. The easiest way to meditate Although these easy meditation techniques will get you started right away, one of the hardest things to master in meditation is the skill of quieting your mind and stopping it from racing from one thought to the next. In traditional meditation this can take years of dedicated practice. However, there is a new and easy way to meditate, which I recently found by chance. Although I have always done breathing exercises for relaxation, since following this new meditation method I am the most relaxed I have been in 2 years. Read more about this
