Double Chin Exercises

by Lily
(California)

Can these stretches/exercises potentially cause sagging skin or wrinkles from stretching and holding your face in an expression? If not, can you explain why? I ask this because I already suffer from the aforementioned and I am really hoping this is not the case because I do not wish to opt for corrective surgery.

Some of the exercises require unnatural poses e.g. pulling your lower lip on your upper one for the double chin stretch. Your help and honesty will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!

By the way: I am Caucasian if that is any help in answering my question (because of our skin aging).

Double Chin Exercises
by: Matthew Scott

Hi Lily, the double chin exercises won't cause more wrinkles or sagging skin, as you should have a relaxed face while doing them, and not be holding any expression.

Yes, putting your bottom lip on your top one is not a natural position but it makes the chin stretch more effective. Try it with your lips together in their normal position and it does feel like less of a stretch as you do the exercise.

I would be more worried about having surgery than doing these double chin exercises.

All the best,

Matthew
