Does massage stimulate lymph nodes to spread cancer?

Is it true that some massage can stimulate the lymph nodes and cause cancer to spread?

Matthew's reply: While direct massage on a tumor site should be avoided, body massage aimed at comforting and relaxing the patient can be highly beneficial and does not cause cancer to spread.

Although cancer may spread into or even begin in the lymphatic system, lymph circulation from massage or other movement such as exercise is not a cause of cancer spreading.

If you or someone you know has cancer though and are considering massage as a complimentary therapy, please first consult your health professional and a qualified massage therapist. All the best.
