Healthy Lifestyle the Chinese Way

by Susanna

I must admit you have done a great job on this site and been ever so generous with your suggestions and videos and I am sure that many are going to benefit if they discover this site... keep the good work going and all the best.

Matthew's reply: Hi Susanna, thanks for your comments. It has always been my intention to make the traditional Chinese way of health known to all. Since 2005 hundreds of thousands of people around the world have benefited from the site. Don't forget to check back often...I regularly update the site and send out weekly Chinese Health Tips by email and I also have another website related to the Chinese way of health, called Chinese Herbal Remedies.

All the best and any questions about the Chinese way of health let me know, I'll be happy to help.

Matthew

Healthy Fit and Beautiful

Hi, I came across your site and read your posted articles and found them interesting. Thanks for the ideas shared on Chinese Holistic Health Exercises.

Matthew's reply: Hi, you're welcome. I hope you use some of the exercises and techniques to improve and maintain your health. This is, after all, the whole purpose of the website - to show people how they can take better control of their health and well being the traditional Chinese way. This includes exercise, diet, herbal remedies, acupuncture, massage, deep breathing and more.

For those who are serious about it there's no better way than by following the highly recommended Chinese Long Life Exercise Program . The program is based on my experience doing traditional Chinese exercises since 1987. Virtually everyone can do it, but those over about 40 years old will especially find it beneficial. Any questions or comments about any of the exercises or techniques on the site just post them below.

When To Exercise?

by Anju
(Delhi)

Is it necessary to exercise only in the morning?

Matthew's reply: Hi Anju, if you are busy and do not have time to exercise in the morning then anytime is fine. The main benefits of exercising in the morning (before breakfast) are to burn off excess fat, work up an appetite for breakfast (the most important meal of the day) and to get your body and mind ready for the day ahead.

In particular, if first thing in the morning you do some of the exercises on this site, such as the long life program you will have more energy and emotional balance throughout the day.

I do the above program (or at least part of it) each morning, then at night before bed I do exercises from the evening program to help me unwind and sleep well.

Let me know if you have questions or comments about any of this.

All the best,

Matthew

Chinese Exercises Before Or After Walking?

by Joanne
(Barbados)

I walk 4 times a week for 45mins at a brisk pace and would like to know if i can do these exercises either before or after walking or if i should do them on the days that i do not walk.

Matthew's reply: Hi Joan, it depends on you. You can do them anytime really. Probably after walking is best, when you are warmed up. On days you don't walk is fine too.

I also walk for about 45 minutes and at the end, with my body fully warmed up, I do 10 minutes or so of stretching exercises from the site. Some days I just 20-30 minutes of exercises from the site, mainly from the Long Life Exercise Program.

It really does depend on you. Just make sure you warm up before doing stretching exercises. If you have any questions about any of the exercises on the site or the long life program just post below.

All the best,

Matthew
