Chinese Medicine for Petit Mal Seizures

by Scheleta Phillips
(Indiana)

My 9 yr old has Petit Mal Seizures, a.k.a. Absence Seizures. Are there any Chinese medicines that will heal him of these?

Matthew's reply: Hi Scheleta, it is possible Chinese herbal medicine can help your son. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) recognizes several causes of seizures, though, and the only way to know the cause in each case is to get a TCM diagnosis from a qualified, experienced TCM practitioner.

It cannot be done via the Internet.

A Western Medicine diagnosis is not enough to prescribe Chinese herbal medicine (and vice versa) as they are completely different systems.

Are there TCM practitioners in your area? If you cannot find one try www.acufinder.com.

If you have any general questions about Chinese herbal medicine for seizures just post them below.

All the best and sorry I cannot offer specific help. As mentioned, a TCM diagnosis is the first step and this can only be done through a face to face consultation.
