Chinese Herbal Medicine for Tracheitis
by Mrs Jenny Saxelby
I have a mild but chronic irritation of the windpipe (tracheitis). I am told it will resolve with time. I would like to try acupressure as I have used it to treat hayfever in the past. (30 years as a hayfever sufferer to zero symptoms within a couple of days).
Does any one know of any acupressure exercises that might help?
Matthew's reply: Hi Jenny, I suggest you try Chinese herbal medicine for tracheitis. I feel it would be more helpful than acupressure. There are many possible Chinese herbal combinations that can be used for tracheitis and it is not possible here to say which is best for you. This is because, in Chinese medicine, everyone is regarded as unique - no two people with the same problem will get EXACTLY the same medicine.
Therefore you need to see a Chinese herbal medicine practitioner to get a Chinese medicine diagnosis for "your" tracheitis. Once the diagnosis has been made, the practitioner then knows which herbal medicine to give you.
When properly prescribed you can expect to see/feel benefits quite quickly - within a day for acute conditions like cough and sore throat, and within two weeks for chronic conditions.
Regarding acupressure for tracheitis, once you have a Chinese medical diagnosis for your problem, the practitioner should also be able to show you specific acupressure points that can help in conjunction with the herbal medicine.
All the best.
