Carpal Tunnel or is it?

When I lay down on either side my arm and hand get tingly and numb. I then have to drop my entire arm, up to my arm pit, over the side of the bed to get blood flowing again. I also experience a sharp pain through my bicep.

During the day if my arm or wrist is bent for a few moments the numbness comes back. This is when I have to stop what I am doing and drop my arm down straight for the blood to flow again.

Can you suggest exercises/stretches that can help?

Thank you for your help.

Matthew's reply: Hi, it is difficult for me to suggest what it might be without having more information. Your symptoms might be indicating carpal tunnel syndrome, a repetitive strain injury, or a problem in your upper spine and neck. Have you had a medical examination and x-rays taken? This would be my first step. Sorry for not offering more help but to suggest specific exercises without having more information would be guessing. If you can provide more information, such as medical test results, then maybe I can suggest exercises or other helpful techniques.

All the best,

Matthew
