Acupuncture for Weight Loss

I would like to know acupuncture points for weight loss.

Matthew's reply: Hi, in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), of which acupuncture is a part, there is no single cause of weight gain or obesity. Therefore, it cannot be said that "these" are the acupuncture points for weight loss.

Also, in TCM, everyone is considered a unique individual, so even if 2 people have the same medical condition they will not necessarily receive the same treatment.

Having said this, in TCM, a common cause of obesity is a weak or unbalanced digestive system. Food is not broken down and assimilated the way it should be and this leads to accumulation of fat in the body.

General acupuncture points used are those on the stomach and spleen meridians. If you're familiar with acupuncture, common points may be ST36, ST40, SP6, SP9. Ear acupuncture is also commonly used to control appetite and calm nervous or emotional eaters.

Hope this helps. Any further questions about acupuncture for weight loss feel free to post them.

All the best,

Matthew
