Acupuncture for Arthritis

Hi, I'd appreciate the offering of answers to questions I have yet to get non-biased, accurate information on. I have arthritis in my big toes, along with bunions by my big toe. Almost went for surgery which would have required a metal screw in one foot and a metal plate in another. When I exercise, and when I wear closed toe shoes, the pressure causes acute pain.

I decided on the alternative of acupuncture, which is very costly. My Dr. is treating me with detox herbs, diet changes and acupuncture treatments. He tested me. I have metal toxicity (problems in my kidneys and spleen), inflammation, and the bones in my big toes almost touch. I already feel some relief, however, I wonder how long the pain free-ness will last after treatments, and will I continually require treatments, and eventually need surgery anyway.

Thank you for your time.

Matthew's reply: Hi, it sounds like your doctor is treating you comprehensively (diet, herbs, acupuncture, etc) which is absolutely the right approach. I'm unable to say (without ever having seen you) how long you will need to take herbs or have acupuncture for arthritis but I can say this for sure...

...most chronic health problems are a result of years of bad dietary and lifestyle habits and if you don't correct these bad habits then you will not get lasting results from acupuncture, herbs or any other treatment.

If your doctor is an experienced practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine then I would follow his/her treatment plan for at least a couple of months. If you'd like to ask further questions about herbs, diet or acupuncture for arthritis just post them below.

Regards,

Matthew
