This sleep remedy is one of the techniques in the Evening/Sleep Program. It's especially good if you tend to think too much in bed. I call it the Sleep Inducer and it's easy to do.
The Sleep Inducer trains your mind to focus on one thing (your breathing), instead of racing from one thought to the next.
Lie on your back in bed, arms by your sides and eyes closed. Breathe slowly, smoothly and deeply though your nose. Try to keep your breathing as natural and effortless as possible.
Now, all you have to do is count your exhalations in sets of 10. Each time you reach ten, start over at one. If your mind wanders (very likely to happen) and you lose count, you MUST start from one again.
The combination of focusing your mind on the counting and penalizing it when it strays, plus slow, deep breathing, is a powerful sleep inducer. Keep doing the technique and you WILL eventually and naturally fall asleep. When I use this technique I sleep very well and wake up feeling great.
Any questions let me know.
All the best,
