Stop Panic Attacks
Once a week or so I get an email from someone asking if there are Chinese exercises to stop panic attacks or anxiety attacks.
I had an anxiety attack years ago at an outdoor rock concert in Australia. It was a very hot summer's day and I was standing in the middle of about 10 thousand people, waiting for a band to come on. Suddenly and with no warning my heart started thumping and racing and panic started to set in. I just HAD to get out of there.
Luckily I got out of the crowd without collapsing. I found a shady spot of grass and laid down till I felt better. I have no idea why it happened and I've never had a panic attack since.
Had I known then what I know now I would have immediately started doing some traditional Chinese techniques to calm myself down.
If you often get anxiety or panic attacks the key is to use relaxation techniques when you feel good. Don't wait till your next attack to do something. The aim is to prevent further attacks.
There are various kinds of relaxation methods and ones I recommend you try first are
acupressure and breathing exercises.
