Mental Power And Health(2)
Last week I showed you a way to use the power of your mind to improve your health. If you didn't get it scroll down to the Back Issues link. As promised, here is another way:
When exercising don't just through the physical motions while watching TV or thinking about other things. Instead, picture in your mind the person you want to be or the goal you want to achieve.
Maybe you want to be stronger or fitter or faster - whatever it is see it in your mind. This is not some secret, unheard-of technique. Athletes and sports pros, for example, do this before big races or matches. They see and also feel themselves winning and they believe it will happen. This puts the power of their mind to work (along with all their physical preparation) to achieve their goal.
I once used the power of my mind to win a darts competition. I can play but am not a great player and had only played for fun at friend's homes. We decided to go to a local pub and enter the weekly darts comp where each player puts in money and the winner takes all.
I was nervous so on the way in the car I closed my eyes and began doing slow, deep breathing while picturing myself throwing perfect darts and winning the comp. I felt calm and confident and I won, against much more experienced players. Some might say it was pure luck but I feel certain my pre-game mental exercise was the key.
Try it. Relax with some slow, deep breathing and picture yourself winning an upcoming comp or race or achieving a goal. FEEL what it is like to win or to have reached your goal. Believe it WILL happen and trust the power of your mind to help get you there.
I can't guarantee this will work for you, but it is a simple technique to try so you have nothing to lose by giving it a go. I will say that the more you do it the higher the chance of it working.
