How To Stop Heartburn-Acid Reflux

Heartburn or acid reflux is a very common problem. The trouble with antacids and other over the counter heartburn medications is they only relieve the symptoms and only target the stomach.

However, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) considers the (main) cause of the problem to be the liver.

In TCM the liver and stomach have a close relationship. The liver is the organ most affected by emotional stress, specifically anger, frustration and irritability.

When these emotions are felt on a regular or constant basis the liver becomes imbalanced and because of its relationship with the stomach, the stomach is affected too.

So, a combination of emotional stress (liver) and poor diet (stomach) is the usual cause of heartburn according to TCM.
