Abdominal pain diagnosis and treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine (WM) is different, however each system has advantages.
I recommend you first get a WM diagnosis to rule out anything serious. Then I suggest you get a TCM diagnosis. This is because regardless of the cause of your abdominal pain Chinese herbal medicine will help you in a more gentle and harmonious way than Western medical treatment.
But, depending on your problem both forms of treatment may be best. Chinese herbal medicine is very good at minimizing the often harsh side effects of Western medical treatment. For instance, in China both systems are commonly used together to treat cancer.
Depending on your TCM diagnosis there are numerous ready-made herbal medicines that may be appropriate for you. Or an individualized herbal prescription may be better and you may also need to adjust your diet and lifestyle.
